From the authentic harbour to the perfect wave

Marokko Strand und Meer, Strand von Taghazout am Atlantik in Marokko

Taghazout beach, on the Atlantic Ocean in Morocco

Essaouira, the port city on the Atlantic coast, is without doubt reminiscent of the Portuguese past of the region. Artists and musicians cavort in the old town, while windsurfers and surfers use the year-round wind on the sea. You can mingle with the locals at the big market and in the city’s winding shopping streets. Or sit down with painters, writers and other aesthetes in one of the many street cafés. On the way to Agadir you will find countless dreamlike bays, also away from the tourist hustle and bustle. The kilometre-long sandy beach of the city offers you a wide range of water sports. Thanks to the Atlantic streams, the climate here is often more pleasant than in the rest of the country, even in high summer. Taghazout, a small village on a bay, is also a paradise for surfers from all over the world. Whether you are a beginner or a professional, you will always find the perfect wave here.

Water sports on the coast, culture in the royal city

Lagzira Strand in Sidi Ifni

In Sidi Ifni, the southern city in Art Deco style, you can visit Legzira Beach, perhaps the most beautiful beach on the Atlantic coast. Enjoy Moroccan cuisine in one of the local restaurants, always with a view of the imposing rock formations, and watch the spectacle of ebb and flow. The journey continues to Dakhla, in the Western Sahara, for kitesurfing and windsurfing. Here is one of the world’s best spots for these sports. You will experience quiet and relaxed bathing days in Al Hoceima on the Mediterranean. Not far away is the city of Tetouan, the summer residence of King Mohammed. Here you have the perfect opportunity to combine a beach holiday with culture. The city has museums worth seeing, archaeological finds, buildings from the colonial period and of course the royal palace.
